About Leland, NC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Leland, NC is located in Brunswick County, North Carolina, and has a population of around 3,423. The town is located along the Brunswick River and has a total area of 4.1 square miles. Leland is part of the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area and features a humid subtropical climate that is characterized by mild winters, lengthy springs, and hot and humid summer months.
The Town of Leland was founded in the mid 1890's, and the former Post Office Postmaster Joseph Gray named it after his nephew, Leland Adams. Early activity in Leland revolved around the Post Office, a school, two churches, and two grocery stores. The railroad station was also a major feature, and Leland served as an early center for transportation. In addition to rail travel, ferries were also located in Leland to transport people across the Brunswick River.
There are a variety of attractions available for Leland visitors and residents, including a number of golf courses in the area, such as the Magnolia Greens, Green Hills, and Cape Fear 18. History buffs may also enjoy visiting Fort Anderson, which was a large Confederate fort that was evacuated in February 1865 after a strong attack by the Union; and this evacuation led to the fall of Wilmington.
